Talbot Lake sits at the headwaters of the Talbot River, the natural source that the river draws from as it flows east toward Mitchell Lake, Canal Lake, and eventually Lake Simcoe. Along with nearby Raven Lake, it’s one of the two natural lakes in that watershed, set apart from the man-made reservoirs further along the chain.
At an elevation of 262 metres, it sits near the top of the Talbot River system, in a quieter, less developed part of the Kawarthas north of Kirkfield and Bolsover. It’s a lake I don’t get asked about as often as some of the bigger names, which is part of its appeal for buyers who want genuine distance from crowds.
