Clear Lake connects directly to Stony Lake, southwest of it, near Young’s Point and Curve Lake First Nation. The name is accurate: this is some of the clearest water in the Kawarthas, a result of the granite shoreline that marks the start of the Canadian Shield in this part of the region.
At roughly 1,600 acres, it’s a good-sized lake for boating and swimming, with pink granite outcrops and windswept pines along much of the shoreline, the landscape a lot of people picture when they think of a Kawartha cottage. Smallmouth bass and yellow perch are the main draw for anglers.
