Lower Buckhorn Lake sits between Buckhorn Lake and Lovesick Lake on the Trent-Severn Waterway, connected to Buckhorn by the lock at Buckhorn and flowing east toward Stony Lake. It’s dotted with small islands, with Deer Bay forming a distinct pocket along its southern shore.
Wolf Island Provincial Park protects several of the lake’s islands, including Grey Duck and Wolf Island, which sit along the eastern boundary the lake shares with Lovesick Lake, right where the Lovesick lock threads between them. That mix of protected land and open water gives the lake a more natural, less built-up feel than some of its busier neighbours.
