Silver Lake is a small, tucked-away lake just outside Coboconk, fed by the Gull River as it continues south from Shadow Lake on its way to Balsam Lake and the Trent-Severn Waterway. At roughly 1.3 kilometres long, it’s one of the smaller named lakes in the chain, which keeps the pace unhurried.
The lake sits right on the line between the granite of the Canadian Shield and the limestone country to the south, and that geology shows in the outcroppings around its midpoint, including a small island with a cottage on it. Depths reach nearly 15 metres in places.
