Shadow Lake stretches about 11 kilometres between Norland at its north end and Coboconk at its south, part of the Gull River system that eventually feeds into Balsam Lake and the Trent-Severn Waterway. Water flows in from Norland and exits south through a set of rapids known locally as “the chute” on its way to Silver Lake.
With around 600 properties along roughly 41 kilometres of shoreline, Shadow Lake offers real variety, sandy beaches in some stretches, granite cliffs in others, and depths reaching 22 metres, deeper than many lakes to the west. Smallmouth bass, walleye, and muskie draw anglers, and the water stays clean and clear for swimming.
Norland sits at one end and Coboconk at the other, so buyers here get their choice of two small-town anchors for groceries and daily errands, with Coboconk’s shops about five to ten minutes from most points on the lake. It’s a good option to consider if you want size and depth without leaving the western Kawarthas.
